The Austin Family at Longfellow PTA's 2026 Back to School Bash.
Hi, LoES families! I’m Shavonne, and I’m excited to serve as your PTA President for the 2026–2028 school years! Before becoming your PTA President, I served as the PTA Treasurer and as a PTACHC Delegate.
🏫 My LOES Connection:
I’m the mom of a 4th Grader this year in Mr. McGloin’s class. Our family has loved being part of the LoES community, and I’m excited to continue giving back to the school that means so much to us.
💼 A Little About Me:
I’m a proud UMBC graduate and have spent more than 20 years working in the federal government in Washington, DC for the NTSB. I’m also a travel advisor, so I love helping people plan memorable experiences. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, listening to my favorite musical artists like Jill Scott, Meghan Trainor, or Morgan Wallen, or finding the next adventure for a client.
❤️ My Family:
I’m married to my husband, Rob, and we’re parents to our almost 10-year old. Our family also includes our 13-year-old fur baby, Taz. I’m a proud Girl Scout mom, too— my daughter is a Junior Girl Scout this year! Between PTA, Girl Scouts, work, and everything else life brings, there’s never a dull moment. 😂
🎉 Fun Fact About Me:
In 2015, I got to dance on stage with Prince at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC! 💜 It was one of the most incredible, surreal, out-of-body experiences of my life. Full disclosure: my husband, Rob, is the real Prince fanatic (ask him about the Prince cave) and has had way more personal experiences meeting him than I have. 😂 But getting to share that moment on stage with him and Prince was absolutely magical—and definitely something I’ll never forget!
💙 Why I’m Excited to Serve on the PTA:
I know our PTA can be a place where all families, teachers, staff, and our community come together to make LoES an even better place for our kids. I’m excited to build on the great foundation already in place, create fun experiences for our students and families, and make sure every family feels welcome, connected, and excited to be part of our school community.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful school year and can’t wait to get to know more of our LOES families!
❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤
Hi, LOES families! I’m Christelle Viauroux, and I’m excited to return as your Executive Secretary for the 2026–2028 term!
🏫 My LOES Connection:
Our family joined LOES in 2022, when our daughter entered first grade. It’s hard to believe she is already in fifth grade!
💼 A Little About Me:
I am an Associate Professor of Economics at UMBC. When I’m not doing research, I enjoy decorating our home, running, dancing, spending time with friends and family, and traveling to discover new places and cultures. I also find real joy in helping others and contributing to the well-being of those around me.
❤️ My Family:
Outside of PTA, I’m a mom to my daughter and wife to Richard. Richard has a background in engineering and software architecture and now spends much of his creative energy woodworking, so our home is rarely without an interesting new project.
Our home has become even livelier thanks to Sprinkles, our daughter's new hamster. Between swimming practices, school activities, family adventures, and Sprinkles’ antics, there is rarely a dull moment in our house.
🎉 Fun Fact About Me:
Apparently I’m more adventurous than I realized! This summer, I stepped into a glass box 12,605 feet above sea level at Aiguille du Midi in the French Alps—with more than 3,000 feet of open air beneath my feet. See the photo as proof! (Our family at Aiguille du Midi in the French Alps during our Summer 2026 trip, braving the “Step Into the Void” glass skywalk.)
💙 Why I’m Excited to Serve on the PTA:
I’m excited to continue serving on the PTA and contributing to meaningful partnerships between families and the school, while helping create the best possible experience for our children.
The Winkler Family
Hi LoES families! I'm Derek and I'm excited to serve as your Treasurer for the 2026-2028 school years.
🏫 My LOES Connection:
My daughter is in 1st grade.
💼 A Little About Me:
I've been a Maryland resident my whole life, having grown up in Harford County. We moved to Columbia in 2022 and our daughter started attending Longfellow in 2025.
❤️ My Family:
Outside of PTA, I'm a dad to our 6 year-old at Longfellow and a future LoES Eagle, who is 3, and husband to my wife, Rowena. Our family also includes our cat, Eponine.
🎉 Fun Fact About Me:
I'm a tabletop gaming enthusiast and own dozens of board games.
💙 Why I’m Excited to Serve on the PTA:
I am a strong believer in community and want to support every student, faculty member, and their families at Longfellow.
